Festival del Plátano Brings a Plantain Celebration to Allapattah

Tuesday 13 October 2026·By My Business Directory

Allapattah's Juan Pablo Duarte Park turns into a plantain celebration this November, as Allapattah CDC's Festival del Plátano brings a cooking showdown, a food court, and a full afternoon of culture to Little Santo Domingo.

A Cooking Competition Built Around One Ingredient

Local cooks go head-to-head in a plantain cooking competition for judging and prizes, while a food court of food trucks and vendors serves up both savory and sweet plantain dishes. It's a neighborhood festival built entirely around the ingredient that anchors so much of the area's cooking.

More Than the Food

Beyond the plantains, the day brings live music, dance performances and community talent, an art exhibit of carnival masks made by local youth and seniors, a kids' area with games and crafts, demonstrations from the City of Miami Police and Fire Departments, and local artists and small businesses selling food and handmade goods.
