The SABNES West Walkway follows the western shore of Salmon Arm Bay, through one of British Columbia's most important migratory estuaries. The level trail and boardwalk lead past marsh and mudflat habitat where birdwatchers spot western grebes, osprey and many of the 282 bird species recorded in the bay. It links the Salmon Arm Wharf area to the wider foreshore trail network, and the rebuilt Eric Christmas Memorial Boardwalk adds a wildlife viewing platform with seating. The walkway is cared for by the Salmon Arm Bay Nature Enhancement Society (SABNES). Seasonal trail notices — such as nesting-season dog restrictions — aren't posted here; SABNES can claim this listing to keep trail updates current.
