McGuire Lake Park is a green oasis in the heart of Salmon Arm, wrapped around a small lake just off the Trans-Canada Highway at 681 Trans-Canada Highway. A paved, wheelchair-accessible path loops the shoreline, passing gardens, shady willows and picnic spots, with a seasonal illuminated fountain playing in the middle of the lake. At the main entrance stands the Japanese Friendship Gate, a gift from Salmon Arm's sister city of Inashiki, Japan, and the McGuire Lake Memorial Walkway winds through the grounds. Watch for turtles basking on logs, ducks and geese on the water, and herons stalking the shallows — it is a favourite lunch-hour stroll for locals and an easy rest stop for travellers.
