Wharf and Marine Peace Park is Salmon Arm's signature waterfront park, stretching along the shore of Shuswap Lake at the end of Marine Park Drive. Designated a Peace Park in 1992 as part of Canada's 125th birthday celebrations, the park is best known for its 135-metre (440-foot) curved wooden wharf — billed as the longest inland wooden wharf in North America — reaching out over the Salmon Arm of the lake. On shore there are landscaped gardens, a gazebo that came from Expo 86, picnic lawns and benches made for lingering. Birdwatchers scan the adjoining Salmon Arm Nature Bay sanctuary, and in summer the Shuswap Arts Council's free Wednesdays on the Wharf concerts fill the park with music.
